Privacy & Legal Stuff

Last updated: October 30, 2025

Look, we get it - nobody actually reads these things. But we're gonna be straight with you about how we handle your info when you bring your ride to our shop.

Your info stays locked down

Following PIPEDA guidelines

When you bring your car in or reach out to us, here's what we might need:

  • Basic Contact Stuff: Your name, phone number, email, and address. Pretty standard - we need to know how to reach you when your ride's ready.
  • Vehicle Details: Make, model, year, VIN, mileage - all the specs we need to work on your car properly.
  • Service History: What we've done before, parts we've installed, any custom work. Helps us keep track of your car's story.
  • Payment Info: Credit card details, billing address - though our payment processor handles the heavy lifting on security here.
  • Photos & Videos: Sometimes we'll snap pics of the work we're doing, especially on restorations. Always with your permission.

We're not collecting anything weird or unnecessary - just what we need to fix your car and run our business properly.

We're not selling your data to some sketchy third party. Here's what we actually do with it:

  • Schedule and complete the work you've asked us to do on your vehicle
  • Call or email you with updates, quotes, or when your car's done
  • Keep service records so we know what's been done to your ride over time
  • Send appointment reminders or maintenance suggestions (only if you want 'em)
  • Process payments and keep financial records for our accountant
  • Improve our services based on what customers tell us
  • Meet legal requirements - tax stuff, warranty claims, that kind of thing

That's it. We're a car shop, not a data mining operation.

Our website uses cookies - those little files that remember you when you visit. Nothing creepy, promise.

What Cookies Do:
  • Essential Cookies: Keep the site working properly - like remembering items in your contact form.
  • Analytics: Help us see which pages people actually look at so we can make the site better.
  • Preferences: Remember settings you've chosen.

You can disable cookies in your browser if you want, but some parts of the site might not work as smoothly.

Cookie Preferences

We take security seriously. Here's what we've got in place:

  • Encrypted connections when you use our website (that little padlock in your browser)
  • Secure payment processing through certified providers - we don't store full credit card numbers
  • Password-protected systems and limited staff access to customer data
  • Regular backups stored securely off-site
  • Physical security at our shop - locked file cabinets, alarm system, the works

Look, no system is 100% hack-proof, but we're doing everything a small auto shop reasonably can to protect your information.

We're not out here selling your contact info. But sometimes we gotta share data to get the job done:

  • Parts Suppliers: When we order parts, they need your vehicle info and sometimes your contact details for delivery.
  • Payment Processors: Obviously they need to process your payment - but they're certified and secure.
  • Insurance Companies: If you're filing a claim, we'll share repair details with your insurer.
  • Warranty Providers: For warranty work, we'll provide service records to the warranty company.
  • Legal Requirements: If the law says we gotta hand over info (court order, investigation, etc.), we will.

That's the full list. We don't work with data brokers or sell mailing lists - that's not our thing.

It's your data. Here's what you can do with it:

  • Access: Want to see what info we have on you? Just ask. We'll show you.
  • Corrections: If something's wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll fix it.
  • Deletion: Want us to delete your data? We can do that, as long as we're not legally required to keep it.
  • Opt-Out: Don't want marketing emails or reminders? Tell us and we'll stop. You'll still get essential stuff like "your car's ready" though.
  • Data Portability: Want your service records in a file you can take elsewhere? We can provide that.

To exercise any of these rights, just shoot us an email at service@blazofdrealm.info or give us a call at (604) 555-8742.

We'll respond within 30 days, as required by Canadian privacy laws.

We don't hoard data forever. Here's our retention policy:

  • Service Records: We keep these for 7 years (tax and legal requirements).
  • Financial Records: Also 7 years - accountant's orders.
  • Contact Info: As long as you're an active customer, plus 3 years after your last visit.
  • Photos/Videos: For the duration of the project, plus we'll ask if we can use them for marketing.
  • Website Analytics: Typically 26 months, then it's purged.

After that, we securely delete or destroy the information. No point hanging onto stuff we don't need.

The Legal Stuff About Using Our Services

When you bring your vehicle to Blaze of Realm, here's what we're both agreeing to:

Estimates & Pricing

We'll give you an honest estimate, but sometimes we find additional issues once we're in there. If extra work's needed, we'll call you first before proceeding. Estimates are good for 30 days.

Parts & Labor

We use quality parts - OEM when it makes sense, aftermarket when it's a better choice. All our work comes with a warranty (ask us about specifics). If you bring your own parts, we can install 'em but we can't warranty them.

Payment Terms

Payment's due when you pick up your vehicle. We accept cash, credit, debit. For bigger jobs, we can arrange a deposit. If your car sits here unclaimed for more than 60 days after completion, we may exercise a mechanic's lien.

Liability

We'll take good care of your ride, but we're not responsible for pre-existing damage, items left in the vehicle, or issues unrelated to the work we performed. We carry full liability insurance for the work we do.

Cancellations

Life happens. If you need to cancel, just give us a heads up. If we've already ordered parts or started work, you might be on the hook for those costs.

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.

We might update this privacy policy from time to time - usually when laws change or we add new services.

When we make significant changes, we'll:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Post a notice on our website homepage
  • Send an email to customers on our list (if it's a major change)

We recommend checking back here occasionally, especially if you haven't been in for a while.
